A Reddit image went viral of a 2005 LAN Party. I didn't know these existed at this scale. As a kid, I played Duke Nukem in a church library with 20 kids. But these images show over 5,000 people gathered in full-scale stadiums for e-sports. Looks like a scorcher. It's such a strange sight, to see thousands of computers lined up in an athletic field. What's neat to me is how suddenly this kind of thing can burst in and out of history. We're rapidly exfoliating hardware, at a rate that's becoming shorter and shorter. A single human life sees multiple phases of technological rebirths.
