...i once wrote an ode to cursing where i had only the word f$%^ approximately 82+ times...after breaking it down with Michael i was able to functionally add over 1k+ more f%^$ to it while maintaining the integrity of my need to say &$%# and !^$%...this might sound silly or funny [because it kind of is] but seriously the quality of that f#$%ing piece was 1000x after getting his attention on it...

...michael dean is without a doubt one of the sharpest writers & editors I have ever had the pleasure to work with and learn from...he has the studied, grounded and digestible capability to siphon the essence of essays to their diamond cores...he is a structure sorcerer, focused on how the parts of one's writing work for themselves and the greater picture of the pieces they exist within...if you want to get good feedback, give good feedback, or just get and give good [writing] to the world i encourage you to work with michael and see what the dean can do for you...i'm serious when i say my writing would be s#!t without him...

It should come as no surprise that the architecture of your offer would be highly compelling. I'm noodling on taking you up on one level or another, but have an idea for a larger project that could possibly use your eye. Perhaps I'll hit the "apply" but at the project level and I guess that may lead to some conversation about what I have in mind.

Revisiting my thought... I'm considering Writer's Studio but I'm on the opposite timezone as you are. I'm wondering if that'll be ok?

Hey Becky (excited to hear that!). I purposely didn't set a fixed recurring time (ie: weekdays, 2pm ET) so that it would work for people with different schedules.

Here's some more detail on how scheduling works. First I set my availability through Calendly, and then anyone in the Writer's Studio can select a time. Others can join in on that slot, and if not it'll be 1:1. There is a max of one event per day. My ideal range is 1-6 pm ET, but there will be some slots as early as 9 am ET and others as late at 9pm ET.

If it weren't for Michael, I would have dropped out of a writing course that began at the same time as a traumatic event I felt both compelled and terrified to write about. He provided thorough and structural feedback on an intensely personal piece, gently nudging me to keep going without hurting myself further in the process. Not only is he a highly skilled writer but he is a compassionate human who genuinely wants to see others shine. If you're like me -- sensitive yet serious about writing -- work with Michael. I'm forever indebted!
